A 48-YEAR-old Wirral man convicted of the brutal murder of his sister’s boyfriend and kidnapping a County Durham couple has threatened to escape and kill a judge.

Daniel Breaks, who was sentenced to life imprison-ment with a minimumof thirty years, first asked if he could have a second opinion when the jury returned their verdicts - and then accused the judge of suppressing the truth.

“I'll escape and kill you,” he threatened Mr Justice Openshaw, who ordered that he be taken down to the cells.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that Breaks murdered his sister Gwyneth’s boyfriend Simon Sutton on April 10 last year by punching, kicking and striking him with a pool cue.

Two days later he ordered his sister to wrap the body in bin bags and made her help him dump it in an alley behind a house in Argyle Street, Birkenhead.

On April 16 he arrived unexpectedly at the County Durham home of his former probation officer and his wife - then kidnapped and forced them to drive to London.

Breaks thought his victim had “grassed” on him.
